OUTLINE OF THE FILM AND MAJOR SPOILERS

WARNING

If you don't want to know what happens in the film, then don't read this.

This review is based on my own opinions as a huge fan, I saw this movie in London on Friday the 19th of June 2009.

STORY

The story this time is much deeper, the original film was great as an introduction to the transformers but

this time we find out more about them and cybertron, it starts where the Autobots are helping a special team

called N.E.S.T set up to track down remaining Decepticons in hiding on earth.

Sam witwicky is home preparing for college having a long distance relationship still with Mikaela who is working with

her dad in a garage, Sam finds a fragment of the allspark cube which accidentally brings to life all the kitchen appliances

in quite a funny scene, bumblebee is called upon for help destroying half the witwicky's home, but they are not worried

knowing the government will pay for any damages no questions asked. Sam starts seeing ancient symbols in his head and thinks

he's going crazy, during his few days at college a girl takes interest in him ALICE (played by the hot Isabel Lucas) she turns out to

be a Decepticon pretender, which looks awesome when she finally reveals herself and tries to kill Sam and Mikaela who by this

time has come to the college to find Sam. The transformation of the pretender is fantastic (makes terminator look silly) and is a cool

addition to the transformers movies.

The symbols Sam is seeing are basically ancient symbols from as early as 17000bc when transformers first came to earth, the fallen

is one of the primes, an order of robots sworn to protect the matrix, they used the matrix by placing it inside a giant machine which

would destroy a sun to draw energy to create energon they need to survive, the fallen was defeated by the other primes as he turned evil,

they sacrificed their lives to protect the matrix, this tomb where the matrix lies is where the symbols lead them before the

decepticons get there first and destroy everything, we learn Optimus is the last of the primes and is the only one who can save us.

The fallen is imprisoned until Optimus is KILLED by Megatron in a really epic fight, then the fallen is set free and comes to earth to

start his revenge, I explain more about the plot and spoilers in the sections below.

TRANSFORMERS

OPTIMUS PRIME

This time around prime kicks major ass, and he's more badass then ever, his main points in the film are an epic fight where

he takes on Megatron and a whole bunch of other Decepticons at the same time, he uses both his plasma like sword/axe things

on his arms, but unfortunately he is stone dead killed by Megatron and all is sad, the Autobots have lost their leader.

not to worry as later in the film he is resurrected by the power of the matrix.

Also later during the film after Jetfire is badly wounded he lends his life spark and his parts to Optimus prime and they combine

making Optimus bigger and even more badass than ever.

MEGATRON

Even more badass than ever also is Megatron, he looks way better as a tank rather than a futuristic jet.

He is resurrected by the decepticons (basically the Constructicons) using the fragment of the allspark cube left over from

the beginning of the first movie which is now being guarded by the government in the most top secret location on earth, this is

stolen in a cool Decepticon raid led by Ravage who Soundwave deploys from space.

Megatron gets his ass kicked by Optimus by the end once he is combined with Jetfire, He and Starscream are barely left

alive and retreat leaving the Autobots once again victorious for now.

THE FALLEN

This was a good addition to the story, the Fallen being one of the original robots in the beginning, one of the primes.

he gets a little screen time, enough I thought to cover what they needed to in the story, he takes back the matrix shortly after

it is used to resurrect Optimus, he intends on restarting the machine and destroying the world to produce energon again so the

decepticons can rule, the machine from 17000bc was hidden inside the pyramid which is why they are all led to Egypt, the Fallen

inserts the matrix but before anything can happen Optimus Prime combined with Jetfire flies up and destroys it with his cannons he

then fights the fallen and destroys his by ripping his head off.

TONY TODD provides the voice of the FALLEN.

SOUNDWAVE AND RAVAGE

You don't see much of Soundwave but when you do its sweet, he looks really cool, he takes over a huge satellite in space

and basically does what he does best and communicates orders to all of the decepticons, with a bit of luck we will see a lot more

of him in Transformers 3. you get to see him in jet mode and in robot mode. his voice is awesome and done by Frank Welker from the

original cartoon series who also voices devastator. Soundwave deploys Ravage down to earth to get the allspark fragment.

Ravage is very similar to the original but with a lot more cooler gadgets on board

Unfortunately he does get destroyed by bumblebee who rips his spine out in a cool fight protecting Sam and Mikaela

DEVASTATOR

Devastator has to be the biggest boldest and most epic robot ever done in a film, he's huge, the way he combines is

clever and very cool, he climbs up the side of the pyramid to destroy it so the Fallen can get to the machine inside.

he doesn't last too long though as he is partially destroyed by a giant top secret laser weapon designed by the government which

slows down the Decepticons quite a bit, the call is made to fire by Agent Simmons (John Turturro) who is the person you see running

in the picture below, he is now retired in the film as sector 7 was shut down, he helps Sam discover what the symbols mean.

JETFIRE

Jetfire is one of the coolest additions to the film I thought, an old and wise Transformer who takes them to Egypt to find the

location of the matrix, he used to be a Decepticon but no longer cares about their ways of destruction, he's too old to care a bit

clapped out and rusted, he tells them the story of the primes and what power the matrix holds and that it could save Optimus.

he speaks with a funny almost British accent but is brilliant, very funny he uses a bit of foul language which is hilarious. he later lends

Optimus his parts to help him destroy the Fallen.

OTHERS

The other robots remain the same and are all cool, playing their part in the movie, bumblebee is awesome as usual still Sam's guardian

Arcee and her other 2 friends are in the film who turn into motor cycles, they are not seen much but are really cool, Sideswipe is the

same, not used much but is awesome, Ironhide is still I think an awesome robot and kicks ass too. Skids and Mudflap are the

comic relief in this movie and are really stupid but funny characters. wheelie also adds a bit of laughter, he starts out spying for

the decepticons but later becomes an Autobot and helps Sam and Mikaela in their mission.

Starscream has more of a role too this time and is constantly pissing off Megatron with his pathetic attempts to do anything right.

SKIDS and MUDFLAP

HUMAN CHARACTERS

SAM WITWICKY

Once again helping the autobots to defend earth from the Decepticon threat, Shia LaBeouf is a great actor and once again

gives a strong and at times funny performance.

 MIKAELA BANES

Again played by the (SUPER HOT) Megan Fox, her character too does grow a little more, and her clothes get smaller and

tighter (which is not a bad thing) her and Sam finally end up telling each other they are in love.

AGENT SIMMONS

The now retired Simmons played by the brilliant John Turturro helps Sam and Mikaela with finding out what the symbols are

left all over the world, and ends up in their fight to save earth using his alien knowledge from working for sector 7.

OTHERS

Basically all the other players remain the same too Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson still play USAF soldiers helping the Autobots.

OTHER NOTES

Do not go by other reviews please, they are for people who cant think for themselves, one fat film critic who get paid to pick

at every little thing that happens in the film, I personally HATE reviews and like to make my own mind up if I like a film or not.

Transformers is an amazing film and as fans we couldn't ask for it to be resurrected in a better way, huge budget, huge action

scenes, good cast, amazing looking robots, one of the best directors in the world, it could have been a lot worse. this is an epic

sci-fi film, people go on about the story being silly, its sci-fi about giant robots, of course its unbelievable and silly at times its meant

to be, its not a serious film, how boring would that be, its pure fun, sit back and enjoy it like a rollercoaster.

Another point is the humour, these are highly intelligent robots from another galaxy who have learnt our languages and have

individually taken on a personality that they have chosen to suit them, these robots act as we do, they have souls almost. of course

you will get a few who act a tad immature at times, you need a little comic relief in there, these robots have their more intelligent

leaders and warriors and they have their faithful if yet sometimes stupid followers who are their soldiers and spies.

they interact how they feel they should with humans as they are still learning how to interact with us as its all new to them.

if you look a little deeper and have a bit more imagination than your average dumb and shallow minded movie reviewer you will see just

how good these films are and how much passion has gone into making it for fans and new comers alike, Revenge of the Fallen is a

masterpiece and cinema history, from an iconic 80's TV show that was fading out in the public eye to a multimillion epic movie

that now millions more people are now fans of. I cant wait for Transformers 3.

The visual effects are awesome, couldn't be more epic and amazing, as a true fan I am very pleased with the film and hope

that every other fan feels the same, any other question or points about this film email me at s.drury@tiscali.co.uk

Thanks for reading this, I hope it was useful if you have not already seen the film and you agree with my thoughts.

Also not forgetting Steve Jablonsky once again made an epic score to this film.
